Soccer star Ronaldo on Monday revealed his frustration at the knee injuries
which have bothered him during his career.
The 32-year-old former Brazil striker, who is awaiting his Corinthians debut,
said he hoped to be fit enough to play in a month.
Ronaldo admitted he would love to turn back the clock to his best spells at
Barcelona and with the national team.
“I really miss good knees, new knees,” the three-time FIFA World Player of the
Year said.
“We’re all doing our best to step on to the pitch as soon as possible, but I
still need one more month.”
Ronaldo reiterated just how important it is for him to return to the pitch
healthy.
“Being 100 percent fit for my return is very important as I have to be sure
nothing bad’s going to happen,” he said.
“The risk is big. I don’t know whether I’ll play well or badly, but I’m hopeful
it will be well.”
Ronaldo had been a free agent since his contract with AC Milan ended in
mid-2008. In September, he started training with Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro to
get back in shape after suffering the latest of three knee injuries.
But the striker accepted a deal with Corinthians, claiming Flamengo did not make
make him an offer.
“I would not attempt this challenge if I didn’t know I could play,” he said. “I
only want to prove to myself that I can play.
“I don’t have financial worries in my life so I wouldn’t need to do this, but
I’m doing it because this is my life. Football is not mathematical but dynamic
and you can find out a number of ways to solve a problem.” |
