Corinthians president Andres Sanchez insists he is not interested in bringing
former AC Milan striker Ronaldo to the club for next season.Corinthians have
been promoted to the top flight after one season in the second tier and,
according to reports, the club's board had made the former Real Madrid hitman an
offer.
Sanchez, though, denied the reports, claiming Corinthians were not in the
financial position to sign Ronaldo.
"It is not a dream, it is impossible. At least he (Ronaldo) can accept the
club's financial reality," Sanchez said in a press release.
Reports linking Ronaldo with Corinthians surfaced after Sanchez had dinner with
the player's agent Fabiano Farah at a Sao Paulo restaurant.
But Corinthians boss Mano Menezes said: "I am always careful about naming new
players. Everybody knows that the president had dinner with people related to
Ronaldo, but (signing him) was not the objective. We wanted to talk about
another player." |
