New AC Milan signing has expressed his delight at having finally got
his desired move. However, he admitted that Ronaldo's role in the matter
was decisive.
Alexandre Pato signs a five year contract with AC Milan, worth 2
million euros per season, after the Rossoneri bosses finally decided to
pay his 14.5 million euro buy-out clause.
Inter Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid were all supposedly ready to match,
some even better, Milan's offer, but Pato's will seems to have proved
decisive in the end.
"This was always my preferred destination," he beamed. "It’s a great
club and there are many of my fellow countrymen who will help me mature
and grow."
Speaking of compatriots, the name of a certain Ronaldo was on the top of
his mind, and at the tip of his tongue.
"Ronaldo was decisive in convincing me to come here," said the
18-year-old. "He told me he likes it in Milan very much."
"I will move to Italy to bring Internacional’s name to the top.
"I joined this outfit when I was 11. I can remember looking at the
Beira-Rio Stadium and being impressed by how big it was.
"I promised my father that I would one day score a goal for him and I am
happy I fulfilled this dream. I have always tried to repay the
supporters’ affection and I will always have pleasant memories of this
club." |
