This morning's was the last
training session before the team's trip to Barcelona for the match
against Espanyol and it was held behind closed doors. Roberto Carlos,
Ronaldo and Guti worked out without experiencing any problems after
having been injured all week.
Since there will be no more Champions
League and King's Cup games for the Whites until after the Christmas
break, Real Madrid have been able to hold five training sessions this
week exclusively focusing on this Sunday's match against Espanyol. Both
tomorrow's and Wednesday's match against Recreativo Huelva are very
important to recover from the harsh blow of losing in Seville last
weekend and to stay at the top of the League table.
This morning's session saw the recovery and return of Ronaldo, Roberto
Carlos and Guti, who could very possibly enter the squad list for the
match in Montjuic. Fabio Capello could count with all his men for
Sunday's clash, except for the injured Cicinho and Helguera, and David
Beckham, who is suspended.
Helguera has been injured since the game against Olympique Lyonnais on
21 November. He trained on the pitch for the first time this past
Wednesday and has continued to do so since then, but he hasn't been able
to recover in time to train with the rest of the squad. His place is
currently taken by youth system player Sergio, who was called up by
Capello for the Whites' match against Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine. Since then,
Sergio has always trained with the first team and has always been
included in all of the Italian coach's squad lists.
The team will leave for Barcelona on a flight departing from Madrid's
Barajas Airport at 7 pm CET. They will arrive at their destination at 8
pm.
