According to El Mundo Deportivo sports
paper Thursday, Real Madrid had no intention to let Ronaldo go. The
report came a day after the Spanish club announced that left-back
Roberto Carlos would fulfil his contract until 2007 as well.
New Real president Ramon Calderon had originally announced he would
revamp the team, but have so far hired only Ruud van Nistelrooy from
Manchester United, who could dethrone Ronaldo as Real's number one
forward.
Calderon also promised the hiring of Kaka (AC Milan), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)
and Arjen Robben (Chelsea) - but none has arrived.
