Ronaldo likely will miss some of Brazil's
training sessions this week because of blisters on his feet.
He will be ready for Brazil's World Cup opener against Croatia on June
13 in Berlin, coach Carlos Alberto Parreira said Sunday.
Ronaldo was substituted at halftime in Brazil's easy 4-0 win over New
Zealand in the team's last warmup match before heading to Germany to try
to win a sixth world title.
``I had three or four blisters on my left foot and one on my right,''
Ronaldo said. ``I changed cleats and tried adding protection to my feet,
but it wasn't working.''
Parreira downplayed the injury and said there was no need to make a big
deal about it.
``It was a blister, and it was bothering him,'' Parreira said, adding he
took Ronaldo out on the doctors' suggestions to keep the problem from
worsening. ``He will need 24 or 48 hours of treatment... and will be
back training.''
Ronaldo, who scored Brazil's first goal, came off the field four times
during the first half to try to solve the problem, twice changing cleats.
``I never had this before,'' he said. ``We'll have to see what happened
and fix this little problem.'' |
