Brazilian striker
Ronaldo returns to action at the weekend with Real Madrid president Florentino
Perez hailing the hitman as simply the best striker in the world. The former
World Player of the Year has been out injured with a calf problem for the last
month.
"Simply, he's the best centre forward in the world," Perez said of Ronaldo.
And Perez confirmed that the Brazilian will be staying at the Bernabeu, despite
the recent signing of Antonio Cassano from Roma.
"Having spoken with him, it's been decided that he will retire at Madrid," Perez
said. "Ronnie will return in excellent form against Espanyol, and we're going to
see the Ronaldo that we all know.
Perez also revealed that once the opportunity of signing Cassano - who was in
the midst of an ugly contract dispute with the owners of Roma - came up, it was
impossible to pass up on.
"Cassano is a player that we'd been following for a long time. I spoke a lot
with the Sensi family [Roma's owners] about him. When we have the chance to sign
a player of such talent, then we go for it. |
