Ramos is reality

With the honours of a galáctico. In this way Sergio Ramos was presented as the new player for Real Madrid at the Bernabéu stadium. As usual, the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, and the honorary president Alfredo Di Stéfano, were the masters of ceremonies for the presentation of the Seville player, the first Spanish signing of the Florentino era. "The fans don´t have to worry, there is a lot of happiness to come", declared Sergio. From this day on, officially, 'Perfect White'.

Sergio Ramos arrived at the Bernabéu at around 1:30pm. Waiting for him, as is usual in this type of ceremony, was the formal signing of his contract as a new player for Real Madrid for the next eight seasons. Alongside him was Florentino Pérez, signing the appropriate documents. The Commitee Room of the Bernabéu stadium hosted this act, the second on the tight morning schedule of Sergio Ramos, which began with his passing with flying colours of his medical test before his presentation as new player for Real Madrid.

The player signed his name in the presence of Florentino Pérez and a good part of the management committee. Sergio Ramos received as a gift from the club a replica of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in silver, a pen with today's date engraved on it (so that he won't forget the day on which he signed for Real Madrid) and a watch. Ramos will definitely keep these details with him all his life.

Immediately afterwards, the act of presentation proper began. As usual, the first person to speak was the president, Florentino Pérez: "We facing this new season with a good, solid, and balanced team and above all one which has an enormous capacity to generate enthusiasm among the fans. It will be an important here and I know very well that of footballers are perfectly focused mentally for this new challenge. And for this reason from today onwards we will be able to count on an excellent player: Sergio Ramos".

"This is a club which puts the emphasis on attack and where the fans love the spectacle of audacious football. But let's never forget that it is also a club which values and respects enormously defensive work and the sacrifice of its players. At Real Madrid being a defender is not an easy job. Our fans know this and in this reason they want to have the best quality and best prepared players here".

"I know that Sergio is proud to wear the number four because he is fully conscious of what this number, this shirt, and this team in our history"

"Sergio feels this responsibility but he is also absolutely convinced that he has the strength and capacity to deal with this challenge ".

"It´s true that Sergio Ramos is our first Spanish signing in the last few years and this too gives me a special satisfaction even though I have to make it clear that at Real Madrid we never look at the passport or the nationality of a player".

"With Sergio we have signed talent and ambition for the future. He is gifted in quality football, is courageous and dreams of victory. With Sergio we have a young lad from Camas who loves this sport more than anything else and who will be bringing us all some great evenings of football ".

Sergio: from now on you can expect a lot of sacrifice and work but also a great dose of happiness in this Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Today and the future belong to you. Sergio, welcome to your new home. Welcome to Real Madrid".

Next, Sergio Ramos was presented by Alfredo Di Stéfano with his shirt, with -this time it was no surprise- the number '4' on the back. A multitude of flashes immortalised this historic moment. "Young man, welcomed to the club and the best of luck in your sporting life. Congratulations", was the message that Alfredo Di Stéfano gave him after the customary presentation of shirt.

Then it was the turn of the big star himself to speak. And he did so with great humility and words of thanks, promising successes to the fans. "I only want to thank you all and express the happiness I feel today, the best day in my life, because that since I was a little boy I dreamt of a day like this and it's difficult to express how I feel inside. I want to give thanks to the President for the confidence which he has put in me and say to the fans not to worry, that we are going to give them a lot of happiness this year".

Once the act of presentation was finished in the presidential box, Sergio Ramos went for the first time to the dressing rooms of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. There he put on the first time the complete uniform of Real Madrid, with the number '4' on the back. `

A few moments later, Sergio Ramos stepped for the first time on the grass of the Bernabéu as a new player for Real Madrid to pose in front of the media and the his first kicks of the ball as a new player wearing the white of Madrid, to the delight of the 3000 spectators who were present in the stands of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. They were the first to enjoy the talent of Sergio in his new home. For the rest of the Madrid fans, they have eight years left to do so.
