Brazilian football superstar Ronaldo held
talks with local police in connection with a drug trafficking case.
Police investigator Luiz Marcelo Xavier told Globo television that the
Real Madrid striker's testimony distanced himself from any possibility
of him having taken part in the sale of drugs over the Internet.
Ronaldo's name was dragged into the police probe by the brother of his
former girlfriend, Brazilian model Livia Lemos.
Amon Lemos, 19, one of 13 people arrested for selling drugs over the net,
apparently played up an encounter with Ronaldo - and another with
Brazilian singer Gabriel Pensador - to help boost his business, Xavier
said.
After 40 minutes of talks with the police, not in the presence of a
lawyer, Ronaldo said: "Everything's been cleared up."
The footballer is in Brazil for the country's World Cup qualifying match
against Chile on September 4.
