Figo: "Madrid know how to play big games"
Luis Figo will be one of the main
figures in today´s game. Two years ago he had at his feet the
possibility of levelling the qualifying round but Buffon stopped his
penalty shot. Today he would shoot it again. “Why not? If I didn´t have
enough confidence I wouldn´t shoot it but I don´t think that will happen.
I hope there will be many penalties in our favour. If I don´t have
confidence, I´m sure there will be many other players who will want to
Portuguese player believes that the key is to scorea goal and he
justifies it by saying that Real Madrid don´t know how to play any other
way. “We must score. It´s crucial to score in this kind of qualifying
round. Real Madrid don´t know how to play any other way. A defensive
play is not good for anybody. Those who do so, ends up losing. Due to
our characteristics, we surely won´t do that. I don´t have a crystal
ball to see the future and I don´t know if it will be the key, but I
Figo doesn´t want to talk about revenge for what happened two years ago.
“I don´t live in the past. I have won everything and if I lived in the
past, I wouldn´t play football. What happened two years ago, it´s
forgotten. We are here to go into the quarter finals and nothing else”.
The number 10 player says that Real Madrid is ready for the fixture.
“The team is aware of the importance of this game. We know the risks and
it will be a game where we will have to be very focused for the whole
ninety minutes. We already know that it´s difficult to score a goal
against this team but we will surely have some opportunities. We must be
very focused on the defence and make our game. Real Madrid know how to
play big games. We have confidence in our possibilities and we trust in
doing things well. We respect our rivals but it would be very hard to be
out of the quarter finals”.
Figo likes the physical strength of Juventus. “They are a solid, very
strong team. They have two strikers who are strong in physical contact.
We will suffer during the game”. The Portuguese player also talked about
Ronaldo and his contribution to the team. “Ronaldo is very important but
he´s not the whole team. He produces because we work for it. He is very
helpful but without the work of everybody, Ronaldo wouldn´t be anybody”.
Figo, as the other players of the team, didn´t like the refereeing of
the first leg. “The referee was not very friendly towards us at Bernabéu
and let´s hope today he will be impartial. We don´t ask anything else”.
