MADRID (AFP) - Brazil World Cup star Ronaldo could
return to Real Madrid's line-up for the Champions League quarter-final first leg
clash against Monaco.
Ronaldo, out of action since March 5 with a
thigh injury, came through training untroubled on Monday to give the Spanish
giants some welcome news.
Ronaldo's return from a muscle tear in his thigh
had been scheduled for next week but he has made a quicker recovery than
expected.
It means Real coach Carlos Queiroz could give
Ronaldo a start for Wednesday's game, although he is more likely to come on as a
substitute.
Queiroz could have to wait until the last minute
before another influential striker, Raul, is passed fit.
The Real captain did not train on Monday after
sustaining a slight muscle strain in Saturday's 4-2 defeat to Athletic Bilbao.
Brazil left-back Roberto Carlos is also out,
serving the second match of his two match-ban for slapping Bayern Munich's
Argentine defender Martin Demichelis. |
