This day in history of Ronaldo
MADRID, March 9 (Reuters) - Raul expects to be fit to play in Real Madrid's Champions League game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
The Spain striker's ankle injury kept him out of much of Real's training session on Tuesday but he was able to take part in a practice match and the club's medical department gave coach Carlos Queiroz the green light to name him in the squad.
"I felt good today and I suppose tomorrow will be better," Raul told reporters. "We'll have to see what the ankle can take but I'm confident I'll be able to play the 90 minutes."
Real, who drew 1-1 away to Bayern in the opening leg of the first knockout round, are missing Ronaldo because of injury and Roberto Carlos through suspension and the loss of Raul would have been a heavy blow.
"We have two important players missing and with Ronaldo gone I'll have to play further forward," Raul said.
"I feel confident in that position, though. It's good for me to be close to goal."
