SAN SEBASTIAN, Jan 11 (SW) - Real Madrid striker Ronaldo has denied that he
wants a move to Chelsea, after being spotted in London on Wednesday. The
Brazilian international claims that he was merely visiting his ex-Real Madrid
friends, Claude Makelele and Geremi.
Speaking after his side's away defeat to Real Sociedad on Saturday, Ronaldo
claimed that he wants to see out his contract with Real which expires in 2006.
Rumours were rife when Ronaldo was photographed leaving Heathrow airport,
destined for Central London on Wednesday. There was speculation that he had met
with Chelsea officials to discuss a move to the West London team. This rumour is
strongly denied by Ronaldo who claims that he was on his way to a photo shoot
for a sponsor and planned to watch Liverpool take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
whilst in town.
It is believed that Real officials found out about the striker's trip and
immediately recalled him to Madrid, as the trip had not been authorised by the
club but was arranged by his agent instead.
