BELO HORIZONTE, Jan 10 (SW) - Brazilian star Rivaldo promised that he will stay
at his new club Cruzeiro until the end of his one year contract that he has
recently signed, denying speculations of him going back to Europe next June, and
compared Cruzeiro with Milan and Barcelona.
"I am impressed by the structure of Cruzeiro, this club has more structure than
Barcelona, who don't have a training field, for example. Milan have their
training fields but I see that Cruzeiro have better ones. I am very happy to see
that in Brazil there are clubs as good as European ones and even better like in
this case Cruzeiro."
On the other hand, Rivaldo spoke how he reached an agreement with Cruzeiro to
play there this year.
"I'm not interested in money anymore. Life is more important for me and Cruzeiro
have given me this opportunity that I appreciate so much. I'm keen to play both
the Copa Libertadores and the Brasileirao," the forward said.
Rivaldo has reportedly rejected better offers from clubs from Rio de Janeiro and
Saudi Arabia, but finally opted for Cruzeiro.
"I chose the club after evaluating its structure and goals. Another important
thing was my desire to be close to my family after so many years in Europe. I'm
also a very good friend of the coach, Wanderley Luxemburgo, who has done
fantastic things with the team," he added.
Hundreds of Cruzeiro supporters greeted him at Toca da Raposa, where Rivaldo
showed them his blue shirt with No 11.
