BALAIDOS’ STAR

Once again Ronnie’s presence and performance were decisive for Real’s
victory at Balaídos. During last season the Brazilian striker scored the
single goal that decided the match and gave the three points to his team.
This time it could not be different... Again Ronnie opened the scoring in
the first minutes of the match, changing the direction to the whole match.
Celta's players had to play against the stream, but in the second half
another Brazilian player, Roberto Carlos, decided it all. It was a vital
win, in the arena of a very tough competitor, that is playing as well in
the UEFA Champions League. Ronaldo is still a key factor and, his scoring
average is almost at one goal per match. He’s still a phenomenon!

Sociedad down
Thanks to the victory at Balaídos, Real Madrid CF rose to 16 points,
temporary reaching Valencia that will host at home Espanyol. Deportivo La
Coruńa is temporary on top of the Primiera División with 18 points, after
the important victory at Camp Nou. Real Sociedad, current Spanish League
vice- champions, were surprisingly defeated by Albacete (3-1).

Still decisive
In the 17th minute Ronnie received an assist by Zinedine Zidane and made a
cross in the very heart of the box but Raúl González could not make the
header. Three minutes later Ronnie is about to make a heel goal, upon
receiving a long pass by Luis Figo. In the 23th Ronnie scored: 0-1. In the
second half it began raining more and more and, consequently, the football
ground became heavy and it was for everybody more difficult to play,
including Ronaldo.

Ronnie's goal for Real's advantage was a real masterpiece, prepared by a
galactic triangle. Zinedine Zidane made a perfect, long, vertical pass to
Luis Figo, who saw Ronnie and gave him a cross assist into the box. The
Brazilian striker controlled the ball, moved to the right and unleashed a
cross, low shot that passed Cavallero. It was his sixth centre in the
league.
